Standish Milling is a family-owned business now in its fourth generation. Founded by John Mitrzyk in 1937 as a small flour mill with just 12 employees, we started out distributing flour and twine.
Today, we employ over 50 people, serve businesses across Michigan, and sell over 6,500 products — many manufactured right here in Standish.

Our Story
Founded as a Flour Mill
John Mitrzyk founded Standish Milling as a small flour mill with just 12 employees, primarily distributing flour and twine. Not long after, the company transitioned to a feed mill, manufacturing and distributing bird seed and livestock feed.
Retail Store Opens
The Standish Milling retail store was born, selling dog food and poultry products on just a few shelves — the start of our direct-to-consumer business.
Rebuilt After Fire
A fire consumed most of the original mill, burning it to the ground. That very same day, Standish Milling was up and running at the new location we still operate from today — a testament to the resilience of this family business.
88 Years and Growing
Now in our 88th year, Standish Milling employs over 50 people and services 850+ dealers across Michigan with our own logistics fleet. We sell over 6,500 products, many manufactured in-house. It hasn't always been easy, but we've endured the good and bad to remain a successful, family-owned business.
